What I Would Like To See On: Del.icio.us

January 27th, 2006

This is a re-post from a comment I made here

I like delicious but to be honest I’m to lazy to tag, what would be nice is if it make an index based only on what I’ve bookmarked so I could do a search and it would check through those sites only but search like a regular search engine.

Cus really who wants to tag? I think it would be cool to have the social bookmarking but then if all my bookmarks would become indexed and easily searchable, well that would be fantastic.

As things are now, I bookmark things like crazy, but rarely do I actually go back to find something, it’s to much work.

Actually, I think delicious already has what you’re describing; you have the option to search all of delicious, or only your own bookmarks, and it will search tags, title, decription, or all. Plus, when you say you bookmark tons but rarely go find what you’re looking for because it’s “too much work”, it’s hard to then say that tagging is too much work. The point is that for a bookmark to be useful to you in the future, you need some context as to where it fits into your life. If you took the time to tag bookmarks when you file them (or just not bookmark things that you don’t feel warrant the time), I bet you’d find you’d go back and find what you were looking for in your bookmarks regularly, because it simply wouldn’t be hard. The point is that you’ll have to do the work either on the front end, or the back end.

Yeah, but delicious doesn’t actually index the pages I bookmark which is what I’m looking for, like google quality search or my bookmarks.

Ahh, I get it. That’s true.

[…] Rollyo is what I believe is the solution to my problem sifting through bookmarks and the index/search feature I described I wanted to have on delicious. […]
